[R Salesman]

Has anyone looked into the feasibility of installing the factory V70 R subwoofer into the S60 R? <p>I just thought I would ask if someone has tried this yet . . . no point in me wasting energy on something if it's already been examined.

Don't think it's a good option <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/rolleyes.gif" BORDER="0"> <br>What will you do? activate the sub-setting in the hiddenmenu? than the radio will think it's a V70-variant and thus will alter ALL sound settings in the equilizer -> NO good if you have the Sedan -> Speakers in sedan are WAY different than in the estate.<br>You could better check the settings of the BASS in the hiddenmenu coz -> some think I've a sub in the car and I just got the audio-max (13speaker + 4*75rms)

Yeah, had this whole discussion before.<p>Bass is so good in S60R with 803 that I thought I had a sub. Assumed the reason the V70R had it as an option was because in S it was standard. <p>Was surprised to find out months after purchase that I didn't. <p>So, I don't think S needs one at all. V, maybe different story, less speakers and a big ol open area in the back.

Although I don't want a gangsta sound system, I do appreciate being able to "feel" the bass without having to blast the sound terribly loud. I think the sound system is great as is . . . I would just like a little more "thump in the trunk."<p>I was hoping that the sub for the V70 R might be a simple plug-n-play option, but it appears that isn't the case. <p>Thanks for the input fellas.

Hence the upgrade Sub option of the wagons would be my guess.

I added an Infinity Basslink in the trunk of my car, took up very little space and really did add the "thump in the trunk" I was looking for. I listen to alot of live music which normally does have the drum beats that you can really feel with a good system. The basslink made an already great system even better.

I recently installed a Kenwood powered sub in my V70XC (KSC-SW1). Better specs than the Volvo unit, a little more compact (can be mounted in your R) and a heck of a lot les $$$. A great addition! Pics on how to tap power to a SUB from the rear would be a big help. With the Battery in the rear, and a sub-panel of fuses in the rear, it ought to be a simple procedure...

REEEAAAALLL easy. I dunno for your app, but on my S60, there was a fuse block in the trunk on the left side, behind a panel. Take that panel off and use a multimeter to find out which junction block is switched 12 volt. Once you find that, just run an 18 GA wire from that to the remote line on your amp. For RCA's I use a Low-Level Converter for now, which I got from Circuit City, that runs off of the back speakers, and convieniently those wires are in the trunk too, just look up when looking in the trunk. There is a way to get the factory deck to run an amp, depending on the deck you have, which has 4 channel pre-outs with remote line output also. I dunno if this will work with the S60, I think it will, but I'm gonna try it soon when the weather gets better and yes, I will take pics.
