Well as crappy as I've always thought my Volvo was, it's proven me wrong. I went to Florida for spring break and took the Volvo and it held up! It was about a 500 mile roundtrip plus probably another 100, 150 miles of driving in Florida. No one in my family thought it could make the trip, but surprisingly the only thing that went wrong was the air conditioner, which whined and leaked a little. My dad went and got an oil change and changed the tires for me before I left. And I also discovered that my odometer is broken. I figure it must have stopped counting in February or March and I just haven't noticed until now. It's stuck on 73,128 and I was supposed to get an oil chance in February with 74,557 miles. I suppose I'll get it fixed eventually. I'd also like to give it props for being able to cruise 85mph the whole time

Also, I tried to use my cruise control and sadly discovered that it wasn't working. All you're supposed to do to set it is push the button to ON and then push either the + or - button to engage it, right?

I think I might even be a little sad when we sell the Volvo this fall. I've started to get attached to it. But alas, I'm going to college and my dad says the Volvo is too old to take to college.

I too just took a road trip in the ol' vo. My trip was a 944miles just getting there and back. With some driving around while I was there. My average speed was 79 (Max was around 110, had to show a Civic HX what was up
) on the way there with 25.3mpg (about a tank and a half) and 75mph on the way back but I got 25.7mpg. To set the CC put the switch in the on pos and hit the + (that is set) or push the switch over to resume after hitting the brake. Sorry to hear you will be losing your car, I kinda wish I was loosing mine just because of the fact I don't fit into it(i'm 6ft 9), other wise I love my car and couldn't have asked for a more perfect first car.

That reminds me of someone I knew who was 6'10". He drove a mid '80s VW Jetta, and he said it was one of the most comfortable cars he'd ever owned, even though it looked (and was) quite small.

I'm also reminded of Sacremento Kings center Vlade Divac (~7' tall), who is from Eastern Europe. He once owned a Yugo, but in order for him to fit in the car, he had to take the front seat out and sit on the back seat to drive.
