Scott McLaughlin broke into the top five for Volvo Polestar Racing in the first official V8 Supercars test of 2015 at Sydney Motorsport Park.

"We have had a solid couple of test days. I am confident that we have a strong car once again this year and that we are going to be a force to be reckoned with," said McLaughlin.

The Kiwi was 0.2000 seconds from the fastest time in the final Shootout session where all 25 drivers in the championship got one lap on hard tyres to simulate a qualifying run.

Team mate David Wall made his debut for Volvo Polestar Racing during the two test days and was happy with his first taste of the 650hp Volvo S60 Polestar V8SC.

"I am really happy to be a part of this operation, everyone has made me feel very welcome.

Everything has gone pretty smoothly, we had a couple of little dramas, but all in all, I am really happy with the way the last couple of days have panned out. I got plenty of laps in the car and we also found a couple of little tweaks in the car," said Wall.

The first race of the 2015 V8 Supercars season is just three weeks away with the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, the very place where McLaughlin made his debut for Volvo last year in a spectacular way by claiming second place in the race.

"The team has done a fantastic job to get us to this position ahead of the Clipsal 500.

Hopefully we can top it off with a win instead of second place this year," said McLaughlin.
