When I start my 240, if I immediately put it in gear, it will stall, or very nearly stall. I have to wait about 3-5 seconds for the RPMs to get below 1000. Is it normal for the revs to go up to 1500 RPMs when started then slowly come back down?

Re: Strange...help appreciated (NRM8573)

Inspect and clean the throttle plate and idle air control valve. Adjust the throttle position sensor. That should do the trick...

Ok, will do, thanks for the help
Where can I find the things you mentioned? And what should I look for when I find them?

If you are mechanically inclined, then you can do these services yourself with the help of a manual. The Haynes manual should get you through these jobs, though the Bentley manual is more comprehensive (Haynes is much cheaper).
You will also need some parts, which are available through IPD, at http://www.ipdusa.com. You'll need a flame trap kit for your car (there are different ones for different years, plus a conversion kit to convert earlier cars to the easier-to-reach later configuration). IPD also make a throttle body cleaning kit, complete with the necessary gasket.
If you are NOT mechanically inclined, these are not very expensive services, and any mechanic familiar with 240's knows how to do them.

I guess I could try, I don't have much experience, I've done a few things, but I hate paying mechanics. I'll do them when I get out of school later this month.
Thanks again, everyone.
