Re: Stop Neutral Control (wrodri54)

The remove software does just that, removes the feature.
It was someone's brainchild in 01, something to do with mileage and maybe emmisions.
It makes the transmission go into neutral when stopped. The minute you give it gas it goes back in gear sort of like a hybrid does. On a hybrid, the gas engine shuts off awhile stopped. But with a hybrid you can barely feel the engine start, with the Aisin Warner 5 speed it goes in and out with a CLUNK and it gets worse every mile you drive!
Sometimes it goes in and out so violently, you would swear something broke.
MUCH better and smoother with this removed. I was the 1st person to have it removed way back in 2001. It was hush hush. You weren't supposed to do that Guess what, it worked so well that it's part of the general tranny software upgrade for 01's.
Back to your question, the person's "logic" that designed it must have the same "logic" as my wife, CRAZED

It was to lower the emissions when you are stopped as you are idling as it wouldn't always be in gear.
It's a real pain in the but, it cost me like 30-50 bucks to get it removed by the dealer.
Re: Stop Neutral Control (wrodri54)

Dude it works. I took mine in for a recall of the ETM. they accidentially deleted my BSR tuning software EVEN though I told them NOT to.
So I got right pissed off at them and demanded a discount. I got the discount for the No stop feature and they comped my transmission fliud change.
Very cool of Volvo to help me but the service manger told me that since I'm the ONLY car in Victoria that looks like it does, I'm great advertising for them so I'm the last guy they wanna piss off.

They wouldn't even do it (service "advisor"). He told me something like "if it ain't broke, they won't touch it" or something along those lines. I will try another dealer nearby to see if I have any better luck. Nice to know it is being done elsewhere
