Well, yesterday I decided to install my new brake pads (Porterfields). I was at the shop and I figured I would get them turned since I did notice a slight warp at 70+ while braking and I when I was at the track when the pads were hot the warp came through much more.
Everything was fine when I went to install the last rotor and noticed this!

I know it should be ok till I get some new ones, but for those of you who do your own brake work, and it's so easy on this car, please take a close look at your rotors. I would hate to see a catastrophic failure of the rotor while on a track or worse yet on a highway.
BTW, the pads and rotors were completely stock and have about 310 tracked miles on them and 18k total. I don't really brake aggressively on the street either.
Kevin

Re: Stock Rotor Cracked! (KVB-R)

I was told by the dealer that you could not turn volvo rotors. Somthing to do with the metal they use.
Travis

Re: Stock Rotor Cracked! (Reno R)

Could be true, I noticed there was no specs on the rotor themselves. I wonder what the issue is? I know they took of very little material, and the guy said that I wasted my money for as little as he took off. But, oh well. I need to replace the fronts at a minimum anyway.

Dealers tell you that ... I know of other people who have turned them with no problem. I'm also sure that the turning issue has been discussed here before.
KVB maybe it was the turn you missed at Bedford ...
Denny
