Has there been any updates on this? I read in some of the older threads that this may be covered under warranty. I've recently had a huge chunk of paint fall off. Is it safe to scrape all the loose pieces off and just repaint it? Some were saying this would affect cooling efficiency.

thats what i did. i just removed the "intercooler" and used a steel brush to get as much of the flakes off as i could then sprayed a light coat of high-temp flat black paint over it. covered up the metal fine and looks perfect unless u get up close and investigate

Does your passenger side CAI fit between the intercooler and the fan? is that PHMIC or Bell?

phMIC.
It's a VERY tight squeeze, and I have given up on running it with the funnel.
I just run my airbox cover off now.

spraypainting your intercooler? Bad idea imo. The whole idea of an intercooler is to disperse heat, not to insulate it...the thinner the fins are on the intercooler, the faster they can disperse heat = cooler intake air temps.
you just added a 3mil spraypaint "blanket" on your intercooler keeping things nice and toasty.

Re: (o89canucks)

eastwood company sells specially formulated radiator paint that is specifically designed not to hinder heat transfer. Use that, and all will be fine.

I got mine ceramic coated. Not sure why I got such funny looks when I had it done, but it should be well insulated from heat transfer!

Here's a hint...it's heat transfer. The intercooler is nothing more than a big, hollow heat sink.

It's okay, I blame it on the White Russian in my hand!
Edit: Although with the little added Baily's it's almost a Mudslide. But the Vodka to milk ratio makes up for any discrepancies. Lets just call it Colored Vodka!
