my boost gauge reads 12-13 psi at wot. does this sound right to you guys? I was and still am skeptical that any car would run so much boost from the factory, especially volvo. what do the rest of you guys run stock?
I think it's a little higher (.6 bar, about 9psi). 12-13 isn't way high, but it is more than I'd expect. Does the car ping under that load? I'd be inclined to say, don't complain! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>Tom.
So many different values... we can't all be right <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"> In the 05 Engines spec Volvo states that the max boost is 0.7bar or 10.5psi (of course, most of the numbers above could be rounding on either end of the conversion as they're all in the same ballpark).<p>13psi sure sounds too high...<p>UKMatt

I did have a manual boost controller on it for a little while but took it off because I knew it was not the best thing to have on there. you think my boost gauge is off or am I really making that much boost?
the boost controller was plumbed in to the correct line (wastegate actuator line) the boost gauge is plumbed into the vacuum line that runs over the top of the engine on the passenger side. I put it on a while ago, but that line comes off the wastegate as well if Im not mistaken. Im not 100% sure if that was the correct place to put it. what's a TCV?

haha i thought about "adjusting" the rod but didn't. Ill have to check the lines. the line running from the tap to the gauge is a crappy little clear plastic one from the autometer kit, not sure what that could have to do with it. maybe Im just special and run 12lbs <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/biggrin.gif" BORDER="0">
on my way to lunch today I watched the gauge carefully. my findings are as follows: 9psi 1st gear, 12 in 2nd and 13 in 3rd under wot and quick shifting, however while accelerating in gear it reaches about 9.5 to 10.5
it doesn't come with one from the factory. I installed an autometer boost/vac gauge. mistral should I really go complain about running higher boost? <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/biggrin.gif" BORDER="0"> Ive been watching it very carefully lately and I think you're right, it's just spikes even tho they can last a sustained amount of time. normal boost is about what the specs say<BR><BR>
