It's a step in the right direction, but it's still far short from iPod integration where you can control your iPod with your steering wheel controls.

It's odd to me they aren't offering satellite radio.

Sat radio will be an option on the 07's.

Fully integrated into the existing radio head unit with functionality on the steering wheel controls? Or outboard like the Volvo Bluetooth? XM in addition to Sirius?

(This is really crazy that it's taken five model years to come at least this far with satellite, aux in, and Bluetooth.)

XM - No http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif , Sirius - Yes http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif (I happen to prefer XM; no offense to Sirius fans, but if I don't have a choice and it is either Sirius or nothing, that is a http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif vote.)

But then again, I am on the verge of popping the bone-headed factory stereo for an Alpine IVA-D200 - which has native XM support. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif And iPod integration at the headunit (you can see which title/artist is playing - everything that you see and can control from the iPod itself). http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

LOL. I'm the same way. I prefer XM. The 07 stereo options, mp3 and aux in, are definitely a nice plus and will help with the competition. But even if I had those right now, I'd still be set on my current path of upgrading the stereo. At least I'd be able to listen to higher quality XM through the aux-in port while I figure everything else out.

Re: Stereo news for XC90 (pattyweb)

We have been curious why Volvo has not offered satellite radio since our first purchase in 2004 and were more surprised it was still not an option in our 2006.

Does Volvo offer any further information regarding satellite radio in the 2007 model and, if so, whether it will be integrated into the radio with an antenna in the antenna bay?

Or is tapping into the auxillary the best solution for 2007?

Thanks.

Unfortunately specific, detailed stereo system information for the 2007 MY is still in process. You can plan on having an option to add Sirius satellite radio. (Ford and Sirius are in bed together in a manner of speaking.) If you want XM, you are looking at plugging into the Aux-In connection. And with the Aux-In connection, you will not have any display of channel/artist/title information from the XM broadcast.

Alpine IVA-D200 is on its way (install is tentatively scheduled for week of May 1st).
