Noticed these remarks in many reviews yes.<p>I think the same goes for the V70NN and when driving both a normal V70NN and an R-Design the difference is very noticeable. As far as I'm aware the R-Design doesn't use the SS-VA steering.

Good point, because as much praise as Volvo gets for improving dynamics, seems most complain about the steering. At this point, what gives? Volvo supposibly is benchmarking these cars against Acura and BMW and others that have been praised for their steering, so, why does Volvo continue to miss the mark?<p>I'm feeling that the new s60 will have styling people find attractive, competing quality, the usual Volvo attributes of comfort, a compliant ride, but I get the feeling that it will lack the steering communication and feel of Audi, BMW, Acura, and others.

Volvo must be thinking that the average Volvo driver is a disconnected golf player who's imagining driving a sportive sailboat.

If the fix is as simple as avoiding the variable assist, then that's easy... assuming Volvo doesn't force it on NA, or you can delete it on a factory order, etc.
