Hi,
On a 2004 xc70 I am getting a wierd feel from the steering at 65 mph or so, I seem to need to constantly do minor corrections. It feels a bit like groved concrete really grabbing the tires and pushing/pulling.
If I put my hands on top of the front right tire and push an pull I can get a little bit of play. I don't get this on the left tire. the lug nuts are tight.
I have an appt with the dealer for service, but wondered if any one else had experienced this and had any input.
There was a klunk from the right front end, that the dealer tightend up when it went in for one year service.
thanks

Re: Steering wierdness/pull (squirtdad)

Either a bad tire(s) or way out of alignment (or both by now).
IF you were out of alignment and a tire got "cupped" that what will happen, if that IS the case, the tire is JUNK now.
You failed to mention how many miles on the tires and if your XC was ever aligned

JRL,
Thanks for the input.....the car has 7500 miles, never been aligned. Tire shows no unusual wear, tire pressure per factory 30psi (got a compressor for birthday )
My wife's car, I haven't driven it much since I got a 1997 328i, so some of the impression could between the two cars, but the fell is off and different from before.
Try 32lbs, check alignment and rotate. (They should be rotated anyway at 7500 mi.)
You could have hit a pothole without even knowing about it

Thanks all....went to dealer and after a quick up on the rack and road trip, the conclusion...the Pirelli are moving to the grooving so to speak. apparently it can vary depending on amount of wear, etc. The dealer is going to go ahead and align the car under warranty.
Also a note: My perception of the issue may have been affected because i've been mostly driving my 97 bmw 328i with sport. I get no pull related to the grooving at all (new Avon tech 550 ultra high performance all seasons)
