Recently, i find my steering wheel a bit loose. The steering wheel feels very light, its easier to control the car, but i still prefer the heavy feel.I want to tighten it, how do I do that?
Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: steering wheel (biotek)

Let some pressure out of your front tires?
Seriously, if the steering changed for no reason, I'd take it to the dealer. The speed-sensor might be malfunctioning, or the ps pump / rack.
Tom.

While we're on the subject of steering wheels (the search function appears to be down) I remember a discussion about the steering wheel with the aluminum trim. Does anyone remember if this can simply be swapped in by the dealer?

In fact it's preferable to have the dealer handle it because there's an airbag involved and you don't want to screw that up. Not sure how many hours of labor are involved though.
UKMatt

Re: (ukmatt)

Volvo Accessories pricing guide says 0.6 hours of labor for the wheel swap out. Keep in mind though that individual retailers may charge more....up to 0.9 hours perhaps.

Re: steering wheel (biotek)

I also would very much like more steering effort - at low speeds - for more feel.
(I would also prefer less at highway speeds.)
In some technical/sales literature written by Volvo it says that different steering wheel assist parameters are available - for different "variants" - which maybe means different markets? I have asked my dealer, and in fact have asked the local regional Volvo rep. and no one seems to know or want to fing out. It would be nice if they could be down loaded. But, I don't know where eles to get info. on this. Maybe we should call the Volvo consumer help line?

Re: steering wheel (steve909)

Steve909, I feel your pain. I described this a long time to a service manager, and even he drew a blank, not only not knowing the answer, but not even knowing what I was talking about at all. I have a feeling we're doomed on this matter. I have not looked into it since then, figuring it was lost cause. If you find out more about whether we can ask for some kind of customization of the assist at low speeds, let us know!!!
