I am a new owner of an '05 XC90.

I noticed the steering pulses/jumps/rocks at a certain speed going around a long corner, roundabouts especially at around 20-25mph.

I have had a new power steering hose put on - it was leaking - but this has not completely solved the problem but has improved it, it is more subtle now.

Is this just normal?

If I drive around a large corner and just gently move the steering wheel left to right as your going around, I feel like the steering wheel is almost tick-tocking or subtle jumping back and forth. There is no noise or sudden jump, but just a subtle feel on the steering wheel.

Anyone any ideas what this might be??

That sounds like a tie rod to me (from experience with other cars).

I have what is probably a similar sensation on my XC70 now. On long sweeping curves I get some feedback that actually moves the steering wheel a tiny bit and changes the attidude of the car very slightly like I just hit a small bump on the road.
I'll be underneath looking around, but if there are any polyurethane bushings, etc., that are known to cure this issue with the front wheel drive/steering (common to any front wheel system on a Volvo, not just the XC90 or XC70) I would be most interested. Thanks in advance for any comments.

the car itself stays smooth, it's just the steering that moves.
Exactly.......I have the exact same perception with my XC70. It should be no secret to Volvo service guys what this is all about. Hopefully it is something easy to fix or replace. My car has 67,000 miles on it by the way.

Could be Lower Control Arm Bushings as well.

This could be an issue with the rack itself or the EHPAS Pump.
