I need to buy the Volvo steel barrier to keep my dog from destroying the interior of my newly purchased 2004 V70R. I have the Gobi sand interior. what color will match it closest?
The color options are grey, oak (taupe) and beige. Or should I just go with grey which will stay clean-looking longer and match the cargo area color?
thanks!
Eric Lee

I didn't know they came in colors.
Stick with the dark gray to match the rear area

The steel barrier for behind the rear seat is a dark grey or black finish.
Check with the dealer.
Don't you have the netting that pulls up out of the rear seats to act as a barrier or isn't it strong enough?
Jim

Phew...when I saw the title of your post, I thought, "OH NO...not his new car!!" as I envisioned an R sliding up against a road barrier or something.
I would definitely stick with the cleanest color. I'm not a huge taupe fan but beige just seems like it will look spotty and be a complete mess, requiring frequent (and tedious) scrubbing.
-Eric

The lighter color is definitely available.

So no matter what color you get, you're going to be clashing with something.

TexasV70R- is that setup a volvo deal? Can I order that from the dealer? That is a really nice setup. Let me know where you got it from if its aftermarket.

Re: steel barrier for V70R (needsdecaf)

Yes, I think I'll go with with grey. I'd rather not get a color that I'll have to clean often, and yes, it's going to clash with something no matter which color I get.
We're probably going to get the Molded Cargo Box too.
http://www.volvocars.us/models/v70/Accessories.htm
scroll down. It's really expensive at $280, but looks like it would work great because it protects the sides as well as the floor.
any tips on getting a break from the dealer on pricing?
Eric

They give good deal on factory Volvo parts.

Thanks for the info guys. I really do like the offerings that volvo has for their cars. Much better even than for my land rover.
