I was having some problems recently with my horn and how it would be hard to get it to work. So I took apart the steering wheel and found that the horn ground wasn't probably done. So now I go that working great BUT the indicator light for the airbag is on. I tried reseting it by undoing the battery and no change. Could it be that when I took out/reinstalled the bag the wheels weren't straight? Or is there another way to reset and get it to work?
I tried the FAQ on the site below for the 700/900 series Volvo but I don't have any wires leading to the 5 position as it states. I only have 2/6!
This is the guide I looked at
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/ElectricalSRS.html
Please HELP ME!

Chris,
A misplaced shot of electricity and that air bag will come at you about 200mph - be careful!
Yeah, I know...too late.
To get the light to go out...
Be sure all is in order (radio code?).
Do a full dump of the OBD.
This should turn off all light IF nothing is amiss.
George Dill

i agree, be very careful as this could hurt you and new airbags.... well you can get a nice used rust free volvo for the same price. yes, junkyards have them for cheap, but theres a reason its in a junk yard. its junk. never EVER install used safety devices.
If you are feeling uneasy about this, get it towed to a volvo mechanic who knows how to deal with this kind of thing. see if he will garuntee replacement for accidental deployment. i dont know if any shops will be willing to do that, but its worth a shot.

The '92 240 is OBD so a code reader will look at all the fault codes and then reset everything unless something is found faulty during the dump.
The reset should kill all the warning lights.
George Dill

Re: SRS problem!!! (wasabiboy)

IIRC, it is in the engine compartment and its some box somewhere (wow im helpful) anyway theres a light and a button in it or something...... i dont know where is it?! i need my stupid manual.. ill be back
OK the diagnostic socket is located in the engine compartment on the left side behind the sturt tower, and theres a teast lead, and you put it in socket 2 and press the button and release it to view codes, to erase them you press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds with the key in the on position engine not running and the led will come on solid. oress the button for 5 more seconds and the light will go off then press the button one quickly, you should get 1-1-1
this is what is said in the haynes manual, there fore i canot be responsible if your car suddenly blows up.
