Hi,
'02 v70 t5 5sp. 45k miles. When starting the car for the first time each day, there is a regular squeaking from the engine compartment - like a hamster (maybe a guinea pig) running on an exercise wheel in need of some wd-40.
Typically, additional starts throughout the day do not result in said noise.
Can you tell me what this is, and whether or not it is something that is best dealt with or ignored?
TIA,
Harry J

Re: Squeaky noise - minor or major? (harryj)

that would be your snail warming up......
Can you isolate where it is coming from? Start the car with the hood open and then see if you can isolate a particular part of the engine that is producing it.
Is it happening only when the car is in motion? or at a standstill as well?
