Springs coming.....

2090 Views 19 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  stealthS60AWD
I'm going to be getting springs very soon Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set.
I've ordered new shocks because mine are going and are old.
Is there anything else i would need?

And Eibach or H&R?

Replace your spring seats with XC90 ones for sure.
Guess you have checked all the bushings?
Whats the part number for the xc90 spring seats?
Re: (xUNiQuE)

Just get the IPD HD mounts

And I think they come with a 1 year warranty?
As an aside, I liked the title you gave the thread. I was actually wondering if maybe it was a mispunctuation and you were actually welcoming the coming weather

I'd like to see pictures when you get the springs on. Personally, I have Eibach springs, and I wish I got H&R's for the more sporty and stiffer ride. Did you get factory struts/shocks? I would have just gone with aftermarket bilstein since stock shocks+ lowered springs don't go well together.
i have bilstein HD shocks + h&r springs

its a bit stiff but pretty flippin sweet.

Seriously?
I find the Eibachs as stiff as youd want for a daily driven car. Maybe its different because i have Konis but it handles very well.

See above - i have stiffer springs and shocks and drive some AWFUL roads on a daily basis and honestly could go stiffer still.

Stiffness is just personal preference in the end.

Yeah, I really prefer a stiff ride, you get more feel in the road. I'm also young, and it doesn't bother me as much as it does someone older.

The IPD mounts are a definite must have. I cracked a set on Evolve springs in less than 10k.

lol, that is a great quote ...literally the stiffer the springs the rougher the ride on your rear end.

Why spend all that money then? Just pump up your tires to 40lbs if you want a stiff ride.

Haha, yeah, I could do that, but I also like the added benifits of handling.
Re: Springs coming..... (xUNiQuE)

Was also thinking about new springs along with the IPD sways, end links, and while I'm at it those spring seats sound like a cheap but effective part to add in.

Was thinking about the Heico springs. How hard are the stock struts gonna get beat up from lowering springs? My car is an 07 so the stock struts are relatively new. Does this help factor in against the lowered springs?

Stock struts will last 15k on lowered springs.

Most likely they just won't keep up. - i.e. your car will become bouncy. In a T5 this probably wouldn't be a problem due to the firmer struts, but in a 2.5T good luck jack.

You need a strut/shock that is matched to the new spring rate, and valved* for a shorter spring. This is why Heico offers shocks that match their springs.
*unless the height change is very minimal, in which case the valving is not such a big deal.
Re: Springs coming..... (ss60)

Especially if your plan on keeping the car your gonna end up taking it apart again in a few years. If you have the coin, do it right the first time.
