I was wondering if anyone had posted the specs for the burns stainless mod they made to their Ferrita exhausts. I am looking at the Ferrita and I would also like to remove the bottle neck. If you gents have already done the legwork, I would love to piggyback.

Wow, need to clarify some things...

Ferrita is a 3"-> 2x2", is doesn't have a bottle neck per se. Because the 2x2" collector sticks into the 3" resonator piece with a smaller ID (instead of other way around), there is a slight restriction there. That is one of the reasons Bryan/Jesse swapped.

The other was to make the Ferrita a little louder and more aggressive sounding. It is quiet for an aftermarket, which could be a really good thing depending on what you want.

Jetex is cloned by both BSR and EST. It has a 2.5" center piece (bottleneck), why I swapped to Burns Stainless. But to be honest, once I did acceleration runs and found that Jetex was just as fast as my 3" Svenske, I tried to cancel Burns order, but it was too late.

Since Ferrita supported a 400hp R, IMO the only reason to swap to Burns Stainless section would be to:

Change exhaust note to slightly more aggressive
You are very particular, and spending $250 to maximize something that may not need it is ok with you.

Once I post pics of what Bryan did to his stock airbox for his CAI (the little details are just, scary) you will understand why he did the Burns piece.

Thanks for clarifying. I do have to say that I am digging the Ferrita sound from the exhaust thread (thanks Kelly). Is there much of a difference between the Ferrita and the modded exhaust with respect to sound/volume/note.....?

There is one other reason besides power/sound. I did the first Burns pipe also for clearance. With lowered V70R, the center resonator kept catching on speed bumps, and pushing the resonator up into the driveshaft.

I did order it a bit long on each 2" pipe so we could cut them down as we needed. We also had the front made to slip fit onto the pipe where we cut the resonator off. If did again, would have them weld a 2 bolt flange on, like they did for Kellys Jetex Burns pipe. Ferrita comes with a third hole, straight down, but we cut that off as it also caught on the bumps.

Here are the dimensions Burns used for our Ferrita pipes. They have made 3 of these for Ferrita so far.

3" OD straight tube, 33" long
expand end to fit over 3"

Merge collector, 2:1, 16g
304ss, 2" to 3"
-4.5" legs (that we had to cut to fit the staggered rear pipe joiners)
-no slips
-3" centerline

42.5 OAL (over all length)

We also ordered flat band clamps from them FB-200, need 2 of these for rear 2" pipes, and one FB-300, for the 3" pipe, unless you have them weld a flange on.

Bryan, I did read about your experience with the scraping on your V, I have the Eibach pro kit installed. That is another concern that I have. The more that I look at it, the more I am willing to have the Burns pipe made and installed. If you guys wouldnt mind, could I get a copy of the design specs for the pipe. My plan is to have the exhaust, DP and Burns installed at the same time. Right now the best ETA I have on the exhaust is Mid May, so if I could get the Burns process started, that would be a great help.

you can order your 3" flange from http://www.verociousmotorsports.com and have it delivered to Burns Stainless.

You don't want to do that. The pointed edge, if you turn it up, will hit the underside of the car. The best, quickest and most cost effective thing to do is burn/torch/cut off the edge. I did mine this week (hitting speed bumps constantly) and it took about 5 minutes.
