I have always heard that using OEM Volvo spark plugs is the best way to go.
-Drew

well, i was gonna go that route, but the dealer wants to charge me an arm and a leg for stock plugs. i'm gonna try autolite 3923's (they're $1.30/eqch), since they are recommended for a stock 1.9T. anyone heard anything good/bad from using these plugs??

I'd say listen to Drew. Even the most expensive spark plugs aren't really that expensive in the grand scheme of things. You have a 50/50 chance that those cheap plugs may cause noticable performance loss judging by the previous complaints on the subject. Volvos are a bit finicky in this area.

Have you tried www.volvoparts.com for your replacement spark plugs. They have great prices on many parts especially when compared to the local dealers in the Washington DC area.

Stick with the Volvo spark plugs. I tried AutoLite's on my Cougar and they SUCK.
The only other plugs i've heard raves about are the NGK R series plugs. This was from a guy who ran a highly tuned 850, but other than that Volvo OEM is the way to go.
