Hey cats,
So, time flies. My warranty is up as of tomorrow! Can't believe it's gone so fast. Kind of bummed about the lack of coverage, but also very excited as I've said all along I was holding off modding till my warranty was up. So.....
Planning on a DP and cat back exhaust followed shortly thereafter by an iPd softloader. VERY excited! That's my start, lots of plans to follow.
So my question is for other Southern ON R owners who have had similar work done; where do you recommend I go to have the install done? I'm in Wasaga Beach, don't mind tooling down to the Toronto area but would prefer not having to go into the city proper. So ideally like Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, etc, or outward to Newmarket, Orangeville, whatever.
Looking to hear some 1st hand experience stories if possible.
Thanks!
gb

gb,
I've got the softloader hardware unit if you want to borrow it and save yourself $425 when you do the IPD purchase.
There is a great Volvo shop in Aurora called Suter's Auto, customers sing their praises
Suter's Auto
31 Industry Street
Aurora, ON
L4G 1X6
(905) 727-2404
Quote directly from customer:
"I can't praise my mechanic enough. Les Suter and his team are the best! I'm not sure how one rates a mechanic, but I can tell you they have done all my mods with no trouble, and even swapped out the slush box in the old 850 for a 5-speed, and it worked perfectly; no warning lights, and everything functioned correctly (cruise control, tach, etc.). The guys are honest and open, taking customers into the garage, under the hoist or the hood to show & explain exactly what is going on & why. "
good stuff
Rob

You have a Blackama....nice! There are a few good shops in the Orangeville area, but I can't remember the names (it's been a while). One guy by the name of Hugh, did a ton of service on my mom's V70, and the work was always great. he can rebuild engines and i'm sure he does exhausts.
EST does not do installations, but does have one shop they highly recommend. you can call them and ask.
or, you could go to Hot Rod Scott's in Etobicoke. they do mandrel bends. http://www.hotrodscotts.com
I'm going to get my exhaust done there in the next two weeks and they'll also do my springs, etc.
hope that helps.

Its is usually not an issue if the car has lower mileage or is less than 6-7 years old (rubber gets far less compliant after 6 years). Most people doing stage 0 have much older cars.
On your car, since it is low Kms and is fairly new (4 years) I'd say skip it and get on with modding.

Re: Southern Ontario R modders: Need your advice please! (S60inToronto)

Hey gb,
I've been away for a while since I sold my S70T5. However, I just picked up an extra low mileage 2006 S60R (only 19k km ) so I'm interested to see what's going on.
Anyhow, I purchased parts for the S70T5 from Frank at EST in Oakville and his installation shop was Meineke in Burlington. The owner is Tony and his lead tech is ex Volvo. I can't praise Tony enough, he was great to deal with.
I wholeheartedly recommend the two. Cheers.
Al

Scott has done several volvos... one guy at my dealer has his 98 S70 T5 up to 400hp. he has gone through 3 engines to get there, and Hot Rod Scott's has done his multiple exhaust setups. He is familiar with EST and knows a sh*% ton about exhausts.

Sweet! Thanks for the new replies and clarifications all.
I don't think I need to worry about the stage 0 thing, pretty low Km and relatively young vehicle. I'll definitely do what I can to make sure all components are up to spec though, just to be safe!
Also debating the PhMIC... and whether to do that before a DP + Cat back. So much to do!
gb
