EDIT: Cookout list!

Here is a list of stuff I put together for the cookout Friday night/Saturday night. Add yourself to the list if possible. If not, no biggie! We have stores nearby that we can go to.

Vegetables - Bobby
Baked Beans - Bobby
Burgers - Bobby
Hot Dogs -
Chips -
Cheese - Bobby
Dip/Salsa -
Hamburger/Hot Dog Buns - Bobby
Water -
Soda -
Beer - Bring some if you want. I'm going to grab a Heineken mini-keg
Plates -
Cups -
Plastic Utensils -
Ice -

Anything else you can think of!

Sup guys!

Phil (http://forums.swedespeed.com/member.php?46314-fallenfenix87) and I are going to do a couple things on his car, and we're going to use the base lifts to do it. Well, a couple of you showed some interest in having a bit of a get-together and wanted in on the lift as well. Soooo, I'm man-ing up and making it happen!

Details:

I will head on base on Friday, June 22, and reserve the three back bays at the shop, two of which have lifts. One lift is hard to use on the cars (my car is too low for it). The other is perfect. I will be paying for the bays for as long as people are going to be here. The bays are about $8 an hour. THIS INCLUDES ALL THE TOOLS YOU NEED. The auto shop is open on Friday from 12 - 8, Sat/Sun from 9 - 5. (EDIT: Just for clarification....the bays will be under my name. The money will come out of my wallet. However, I expect you to pay your weight. So, you are on the lift for 5 hours, you give me $40 to give to the shop. Easy-peasy)
I need at least three people at the shop at all times, so it doesn't look like we're abusing the system. (I have already cleared it with the people who run the shop; they don't care as long as the bays are being paid for.) I will be able to get there slightly before noon on Friday, but I will need a couple more cars there! Phil should be able to make it as well. Bring all the goodies you wanted to install but were too scared to do yourself, cuz now is the time to make it happen! I DO NOT make any claims to be a professional mechanic; I AM NOT a mechanic, I AM NOT trained to do this. However, I know how to do some base stuff, and can figure out a bunch too. I'm comfortable with bolt-ons, etc. If you want to install something, PLEASE do your research. I'm sure many of use will be comfortable giving you a hand with the install, but don't expect us to know how to do everything. Also, please be reasonable with your expectations (we could do an engine swap in the couple days, but it wouldn't be fair to others). This is an awesome opportunity to get some stuff put on your car for a measly $8 an hour. You can leave the cars in the bays overnight.

I have a floor installed in my house. People have slept on that floor before. If you plan on sleeping on that floor, let me know before hand so I can figure things out.

If we have a good turnout, we can also have a little cook-out behind my house. We'll see how many people are RSVP'ing first. If we have a REALLY good turnout, that little cook-out might also have a keg of yuengling in it. If we have a crappy turnout, we can still have a little cook-out. Screw the haters.

For those of you who aren't familiar with southern maryland - it isn't civilization. However, there are some hot-spots to get some pretty cool photos. Solomon's Island is one of them. DO NOT TAKE PICTURES ON BASE. Seriously. I can get in trouble for that one. I don't care how cool it would look to have your car next to some crazy heli/jet/UFO. Don't do it. Also, don't go cruising around base either. In and out. If you want a tour of the base, I (or someone who works here) will be more than happy to give you one. But there are some places you shouldn't go to. And I'd hate to have to kill you.

I (or someone else who has a DoD badge) will have to escort you on. This is no biggie; it just means we have to sit next to you and show the guard our badge. But it does make logistics a bit harder. I will provide my cell number so you can text me when you get down here and are ready to get on base.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a TON of things, but whatever. It's all good, and this is just the rough draft anyway. Ideally, we should do just Fri and Sat, so I don't have to give up an entire freakin' weekend, but whatev's. If we have to do Sun too, we can. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try and get here Friday at noon if at all possible, ESPECIALLY if you plan on doing an exhaust job or strut job or whatever. (Alignment shops down here blow, btw.)

Last thing - $$$$$$$
Like I mentioned, it's like $8ish an hour (I think $7.75, but w/e). When I go to pay at the end of the weekend, I should NOT be short cash lol. $10, $20, ehhh. But I shouldn't have a $80 bill because people weren't pitching in for their time. If done properly, we should be able to have a decent weekend.

EDIT #2: Since there may be a bit of waiting around, my house will be open to you guys (as long as you're respectful and don't steal my crap or try to hook up with my girlfriend or something. Homie don't play dat.) So, if you guys are done and don't feel like hanging around the shop, or are waiting for a lift and don't feel like hanging around the shop, you can chill at my place and drink/eat/sleep/play forza/whatever.

Maybe we should list what we'd like to get done??

Since my indy is going to do the front passenger axle soon already, i'm just going to have him put in the LCA's and ball joints as well. That should reduce my lift time significantly.

That leaves turbo inlet pipe, forge cbv, cnt downpipe as far as parts go.
If we have time: tranny flush, stainless brake lines + flush, power steering reservoir + flush
If there's nothing going on: paint calipers and wheels :D

Cool cool.

Yes, great idea, please throw down what you would like to get down. If you are doing something like the flushes mentioned above, we'll put you in the bay without a lift and give you a jack and stands. If you're doing something like exhaust, we'll throw you on the lift.

Of course, if we have the time, we can throw anybody/everybody on the lift.

I do it's issued by DOC/NOAA but it is a CAC
I've used it to get on numerous Navy and Marine facilities for work.

I may be out of town all week, but will try to make it Saturday around noon. I am retired military, so I can escort people on and around the base. No work needed on my car, but always willing to watch, help and learn.

Sweet sweet. If all goes well, we may even grab a couple more lifts too.

I bought a brake bleeder, so hopefully they won't be that difficult to install once things are drained. The "shop" may have one as well. Whose car should we experiment on first to find out how easy/difficult it is to do?? :D
