Picked up my S40 three days ago. I made four short trips in the evening, and shortly in the beginning of three of the trips, while listening to a CD, the stereo system switches over to radio. Anyone notice bizzare radio behavior?

Heh, you have no idea. Radio/CD "freezes" and other issues have been among the more common problems with these cars. A search will yield you many threads to read. In most cases, a software update by the dealer will fix the problem, although some people have needed to have their whole head unit replaced. Your particular issue is new, however -- to my memory anyway. Best to run it by the dealer next time you have the car there.

Thanks Mullman. I'm beginning to long for the days of the simple mechanical tuner radios and casette -- no, make that 8-track -- tapes.

Mine did something wierd the other day. The CD played but it sounded like a radio station that's just a little off frequency (crackly and cutting out). turning the car on and off and the power on and off did nothing. went into the restaurant, came back out a while later, all was good. that was the first and only time it's happened.

Wierd.

An update. It appears that if I the problem I'm having will happen if I program the PTY search with the music types that I like. If I turn them all off, the CD changer stays on CD and doesn't do the switchover to FM shortly after startup. I guess this is what happens when they let just anyone write software these days...
