Im looking at getting the Sony CDX-GT300 or the Alpine CDE-9852. I know that the Alpine can charge your ipod and you can see it on the screen. But for $20 I can get an in car Ipod charger and $20 for the wire to hook up the Ipod to the head unit ($30 for the alpine), will the SOny sound as good when I have my Ipod hooked up to it. Which one would you buy and why? Also, if you have you had any experience with these head units? This is for my Camry. Need some good info by Saturday
The Alpine has the "Full Speed" connection for iPod >> this eliminates the nasty lag preset in most interfaces on the market. If you ever plan on changing tracks while driving this saves a ton of time (and maybe your life, since less time staring at your stereo and more time looking at the road)
Re. the Sony... it will sound very close to the same, if not identical if you are hooking it to the same speakers. (if your crossover points are the same)
Personally I chose Alpine because I already owned serveral Alpine components and because I was able to get an interface to hook it to my steering wheel controls (volume, track selection, FFWD, etc).
