I go to a lot of local car meet-ups. Especially a big one every Friday night with 300+ cars. I park under a good light, next to my Volvo friends with their 142's, V70's and V8 conversion 240's. I don't pop the hood since there's nothing to see in my stock machine. But the one thing I do notice, it always draws a crowd, and a flurry of questions. Mostly about the paint, what year is it. Everyone seems to think it's a 2006.
I've had this happen a few times downtown, when I'll park on the side of a street, leave for a few minutes and come back to see 3 or 4 people standing around peering in the windows or crouched down by the bumper trying to get a good view.
I had to pull out of my garage yesterday and bi-pass the BMW in the driveway. My friend with a modded Nissan 240sx was guiding me, and every now and then I could hear, "ah, damn, this thing is *effin* sexy!" I tell people I drive a Volvo, and they don't think much it, untill they actually see it.
    All around
It's 8 years old, stock, I spent less than the price of a new Chevy POS, and it still draws a crowd.
Anyone experience the same??

Well I'm just happy to look at mine, even in the reflections of glass buildings when I'm driving. The design is flawless. Its something you admire rather than drool at. And thats the best way. Cars that made you drool are trendy and are quickly out of fashion.
But the C70 is timeless. I get lots of admiration from people once they've seen it, but generally its hard to tell someone how good it is if they hear the word "Volvo" mentioned. But then again, people are generally stupid.

Re: (Token)

Yeah, that saffron colour ("burned orange", like we qualify it in French) is definitely a breaking-neck colour.
Quite a few times, when my black C70 was clean, I had similar commentaries: holy cow, a 1998? Most people think this design is recent. One friend even told me he found the C70 to have feline (smooth and sexy) attributes. Which I tend to agree to. The new C70 looks nice, but lacks the lenghty curves of the modern Saint's version.
One thing is for sure: this car's lines, unlike S60R's or V70R's which have the normal Volvo looks (but other unique attributes under the hood), are timeless, like Token just expressed. And that's partly because it's rare; they produced so little quantities that it will undoubtly become a classic and collector's item.
I want to keep mine for a long time! That's why I'm actually in the process of buying a 1991 740T wagon for wintertime: she will get all the winter dirt while the C70 sleeps in a garage!
