Hi,
I just ordered new V70xc and now I am waiting for the car. You now how terrible is to wait for a new car .
After the meeting with Volvo dealer I was confused because it was impossible to order some additions for my car. I've received the information that they are impossible for Volvo V70XC.
I was interested in:
- xenon lights
- rain sensor
- subwoofer
Maybe I can arrange everything without Volvo cooperation?
Greetings,
Tom

You can get the subwoofer in the XC, but you need to stack up on all the audio options to get it.
You need the Touring Package ($1,785 CAD), then the Dolby Premium Sound Package ($1,200 CAD)over that. Then Volvo will let you get the subwoofer for $500 CAD.
From what I hear though, the 4 discer is very much worth it. The only reason we didn't get it was because the car was in stock with the HU613.
As for the Xenons, take a look at: http://xenonshop.com/
That is basicly the only option for us Volvo peeps, Volvo needs to offer Xenon. Acura made them standard on their TL.

The problem is (as I know from Volvo dealer) that Cross Country has the classic rescue wheel instead os spare wheel, so there is no space to mount the subwoofer under the floor. ):
Greetings,
Tom
Tom,
I don't know where your dealer got that idea. Here are some pics of the subwoofer in my XC. I also have the HU-803 and love them both together. You can see the spare tire hiding underneath the sub.
The platform cover with the grocery holder up:

Cover removed:

Closeup with my pen pointing to the bass boost/sub volume dial:

Closeup of the removal instructions on the integrated amp:

I just pulled the sub out and checked the spare. It's a Pirelli 35/90R-17. The 12" sub is mounted so it fires straight up, and uses the space in the center of the spare as it's box. Maybe not the most efficient and correct for sound, but its a sub and does more than fine for me. And, it doesn't take up any cargo space.
Oh, one last thing. I couldn't get my XC (short of a special order) with my other options and colors without the sub. I'm glad now that was the case.
--Adam

[This message has been edited by saabstory (edited 04-29-2001).]

I've been told that if you have the third seat, you can't install the sub. And am I the only one who feels that $1,000 for the 6-disc changer is outrageous?

True on the choice between sub and third row, can only have one. Not sure if this is for space reasons, or they don't want ya blowing the little guys' hearing.
In terms of the changer, I've heard that Alpine changers will work, though ya may want to ask around for a more definitive answer.

The Alpine works for the 2000, (I installed one in the glove box), but apparently, in addition to a new interface for the 2001, there is also software that has to be downloaded into the system in order to recognize it. I imagine, though, that it will only be a matter of time until aftermarket figures it out.
