The R stands for Racing...
Volvo "R" models are a tribute to when the 1994 Volvo 850 wagon created racing history by being the first wagon ever, and Volvo's first car entry ever, in the prestigious BTCC, the British Touring Car Championship. A Volvo 850 wagon also was the first Volvo to be entered in the Australian Super Touring Championship.
BTW, doesn't the Dodge Omni GLH, stand for "Goes Like Hell"? The GLH-S was, "Goes Like Hell, Some More". The GLH had 146hp and the GLH-S had 175hp with 12psi of boost, 0-60 of around 6.7 seconds and 14.7 1/4 mile. Pretty good for 1986!
-Drew

thought of you while driving on the DC beltway yesterday. In addition to a V70R AWD, I spotted a yellow R sedan with T-5 wheels and a yellow wagon.

This thing has never seen salt and I'd love it to be NEXT Winter before it does... our 2 other daily drivers developed rust bubbles this season!!! Ughhhhhhhhhh
hate it.
I have a guy willing to pay TOP DOLLAR (like $13K) on my 1993 VW Westy Weekender and I'm entertaining selling it.. but cannot think of life without a weekender.
