I'm a bit underwhelmed by the sound of the horn on the my V50. It sounds like a big Buick.. (not that there's anything wrong with that
)

Has anyone tired to change the horn for something a bit more high pitched, a bit more european? I would think that that could be a fun mod that you wouldn't need a trip to the dealer and a software download to enjoy?

Re: So what about the horn? (Dede)

After a run in with a deer, I somehow had one of those euro horns in my car after I got it back. I was not happy so I took it back to the dealership where they told me they had forgot to connect the second horn. After that it sounded like a volvo again.

Don't know if there are two in the new one but if there are try disconnecting one of them... I know what big buicks sound like and Volvo's are different, more polite when telling someone to get the hell out of its way.

Re: So what about the horn? (ITSNOTAWAGON)

I don't know guys, I used to have an air horn (FIIA?) in my CRX (a long time ago) and just loved that sound!

Now that I started looking around the web, these may be options?

I guess I also need to take a look under the hood to see if there are more than one horn that can be hooked-up

Hey Dede...is that anything like the old Maserati/Ferrari triple trumpet sound? I had a Maserati Biturbo years ago and that horn has always been my favorite.

Could be, it was an Italian product. I'm still trying to find an audio sample, all I can find sound pretty standard.

Re: So what about the horn? (Oldman)

I heard a Honda Civic horn and it was pitiful. High pitched sounds are bad because most cars are sound insulated against high pitched sounds. It's hard to insulate against a low pitch Buick-type horn. My favorites were the old Cadillac horns with 3 trumpets.

I have this problem from time to time and posted about it last year (geese farts on a muggy day).

Turns out the horn just gets "stuck", if I lean on it and blow out the cobwebs it wakes up and goes back to what I expect. Find some faraway place and give it a try.

I discovered my horn wasn't working today. I wonder if I stuck my lips between the front grill and blew on them, I could get them to work again?
The fuse looks okay.

Tom, congrats http://********************/smile/emcocktl.gif on the 'promotion'. Didn't realize you are a moderator now.

I like the sound of our horn! My dad's old 01 ML320 had a japanese sounding horn(weak and high pitched) that was embarassing coming from a Mercedes SUV....that I would have a problem with

Weak? The ML's horn is my favorite part about that car. It's the loudest horn I've ever heard - sounds like the horns from the old G-Wagens that were used in the military.

Hey, I swear to God I did a search for horn and honk before posting my question. Honest mod!

But thanks for the link to the thread, reading through it, I remembered that the horn on my CRX was from Hella.

Re: So what about the horn? (Dede)

There are indeed 2 horns hiding behind the grille of my V50. The appear to be from FIAMM (http://www.fiammamerica.com/)

The horn on the driver's side says "low" and the horn on the passenger side says "high". Could it be that we can use one or the other
