Popped my hood at the car show today, there was oil all over my hood...what?
After talking to Chris(x-omatic) we concluded this is a precursor to the PCV going. Has anyone else experienced this prior to loosing the PCV?

Yup... mine was not on the hood, but was all over the lower half of the engine bay. Thank god for the Extended Warranty!

yea... that's definitely it. I guess it's good that you noticed it early. I didn't see mine until the noise started and it was a MESS on the bottom end.

Interesting, none of the extended recalls ive done for the PCV system so far have had this complaint yet. All you guys experience the squeal or the CEL ECM-250A code?

I put My letter in the glove box of the car so this is from memory, but I think the extension is to 120,000 miles for the PVC replacement.

I just brought my car into the stealership for the PCV issue... I didnt have any oil leaks, but I did have that awful squealing noise coming from the engine compartment.....
Question:
I talked to the volvo service rep. and he said that they probably wont upload any new software to my ecu, but he will tell me if they do... Does our ecu need to be reflashed by the dealer if our PCV is replaced?
- Thanks

Re: (gmugolf)

No, no reflash... just the PCV replacement. Doesnt take too long, I waited in the show room and they were done in an hour and a half. I had my computer with me and posted up on here while waiting. Lol!

Yeah they shouldnt be doing any software downloads so i wouldnt let them if they try and charge you for something. Recall time is 1.5 hours and usually takes about that unless you learn the air box removal trick which saves you time

Re: (s40boy)

Yeah the trick is to not remove the entire airbox to replace the PCV system lol. I just move it to the side haha. Cuts my time of prying the thing out and trying to get it back in.

will they complain because of the evolve intake pipe and other things ?

Re: (jdsr917)

I wouldnt lol. Means i can do the PCV recall in about 20 minutes with the air box already gone
