First the damage...

Here's the story
I'm on my third day of residency and I'm on overnight call. The parking at my hospital is mostly free parking except for a physician's lot (which I can't park in) and a patient-only parking lot. I happened to miss a small sign for one particular lot that says it's reserved on weekends but it's adjacent to the lot we the house staff are supposed to park in. So I park there, do my 30 hour shift with no sleep and when I come out the next day ragged and tired I see that the lot I parked in is empty and my car isn't there. Interesting. Instead there are a bunch of motorcyclists who look like they're taking a license test. Great, my car got towed. I ask them where they towed the car and it turns out they just moved it to another lot. Ok not so bad. As I walk towards the car I immediately see the bumper hanging off the car. At this point I'm so tired I can't even believe what I'm seeing. Then later I realize the car was towed in gear with the e-brake on and probably just by the front wheels. Called the hospital police and they basically told me I'm SOL. So I guess another insurance claim for me. Great way to end a 30 hour sleepless day.
So questions:
1. What kind damage to the transmission/driveline can be done by towing this car by the front wheels while the e-brake is on and while the car is in gear?
2. Anybody recommend a good body shop in LA?
