Well, finding out that little gem surprised me - I gotta learn to read the small print.

So, how's the oem sub? Worth it in a V50? I wonder which application (S40 or V50) the sub sounds better in.

$1K for the Dynaudio & $1K for the sub (at least thats all I can find from a quick scan of the forums) is a spendy little stereo system - no doubt: hope it's worth it.

I have an OEM one that I have been on the fence with selling, I bought it, found out my car wires were messed with, but have resolved that issue finally. If you want it I can deliver it to the seattle GTG. Not 100% positive I am selling it though, still considering my options. It has all the needed stuff: sub, wiring kit (nav and non-nav wiring kits), and foam trunk liners. All you would need is the software download, which is around $50-120 depending on where you get it...IM/email me and we can discuss it. Thanks!

I think the thing people run into is that for a grand you can get some pretty hefty subs put back there with much much more sound. If you aren't necessarily concerned about trunk space then I would get a box, amp and subs and not go OEM. Much more bang for your buck IMO.

I was going to get the OEM sub but we got an Infinity sub amp combo thing out of a used car trade in so i might rig that up and see how it does.

carreragt7 - thanks for the offer, but given the issues I've read about the radio/cd player, I'd rather get a warranty along with the sub.

USAF 2010 T5 - I might agree with you, but already ordered the Dynaudio and am going to stick with it and see how it sounds. The lower hassel of oem premium audio is still worth it to me.

S40DaB - definately want to keep the floor clean in the back so a box is out.

So the OEM would probably work from you. And from what I recall on here it isn't too bad of a unit anyway.

I have the Premium Sound in my '05 V50 without the sub. I don't think that it is by Dynaudio as I believe that it came along in 2008. The older system has less power and I believe the speakers are by Harman International Industries (maker of Harman Kardon, Infinity, JBL, etc). Even without the sub, it is very impressive once you get the equalizers set properly and produces really good bass, especially for 6.5" drivers. I have not heard the OEM sub however, I have heard others rave about it.

They Dynaudio system should really rock with or without the sub.

Without the sub the older system is incredible, and the new system is better. Unless you really want that crazy vibration, you don't need a sub.

+1 on proper setup too. EQ is critical.

Just curious... how long did you spend setting the EQ up? I spent half an hour doing so when I got the car. People thought I was crazy.

ps... I'm only on a high performance system... I should have got the Premium Sound when I ordered the car but that would have set me back another US$2.5k where I am...

Months and months.....

I got it dialed in pretty close then would tweak it every now and then with different CDs playing until I found good settings.

The Performance Sound System is a capable system. I had one in a loader that I was able to get singing pretty well.

If you search the forum, there are some suggested settings for the Prem sound sys. They will be different based on S40 or V50, car options, and personal likes.
