Hey,
Well i went and looked at a 2001 red s60 t5 with 72k on it. The body looks good other then some minor scratches and the passenger side wheel paint is coming off the rim. I got into the car and drove it about 1.3 miles and it just shut off. I tried to start the car but it had a hard time at idle around 1100rpm and would drop and just stuggle to get goin. After i pushed more on the gas i got it to start goin. The check engine gauge came on and the thing all the way to the left on the dash said that the engine needed to be serviced. They were askin 14k but then went to 11k when i got back. What do you guys think? should i steer clear of this one or you think its probally nothing big. I will defintely take the car to a dealer before i buy it.Thanks

Re: So i went and looked at a T5 today.....help (CaseJ)

Just a guess but it looks suspiciously like the seller wants to sell it rather than paying for the needed repairs to keep driving it... not a good sign; aka "now its someone else's problem" mentality.
I'd move on to another one if I was buying, I'm sure there are many more on the market. You're bound to find one that has been properly maintained.

Actually sounds like a classic ETM failure.
Of course now warranteed by Volvo, you may have caught a break. Make a deal subject to a check up By a Volvo dealer.
They will fix it for free if that's it so make sure that the car would still be yours after it's fixed
8 to 5 that's probably it
