the story behind this: I'd like to hardwire my portable GPS into the center console, - at the place where the display and CD-slot are located.
those are connected to the amp/multimedia module via fiber optic cables ... is it possible to lengthen these in any way? (adapter-sort-of-thing, maybe just buying/getting longer ones from somewhere)
because I was thinking of putting the display somewhere near the headliner / interior lighting console, and the CD-slot... dunno really, maybe I'll get rid (if possible) of this one completely since I have my aux-in...
I know you guys can help me out with this, swedespeed has always found a solution to my problems

Re: So... has anyone messed with the audio optic cables? (crossie)

I think MrJo or whatever the screen name is had some longer fiber optic cables made so he could fit the display in the light/sunroof unit area. I have been wanting to do the same sort of thing but too many projects too little time...do it and do a great write up so when I get around to it you already made it so I won't mess up too badly.

Hi crossie, yes I did It.
Bought volvo fiber optic cables (5 meters) + terminators + connectors. Then went to the dealship and had them cut the cable to a specific lenght (must be cutted using a special tool available at your dealer).
mJrO
