Any clues about a local So Cal dealer that knows R's (and is perhaps mod friendly). I am not a real smart guy, but thanks to this forum I always seem to know more about my car than the service writer. My headlights are currently pointing down because the service tech didn't know to turn the lights prior to a software down load.
I live in the San Fernando Valley and Galpin is closest, but it's too big (think LAX), too busy (we can fit you in later next month, too impersonal (no, you can't speak to the mechanic), and no loaner cars. Help guys ....
Really???...Galpin was like that to you??... I'd go to Calabasas or Pasadena. Call either of them before you go since it will be a trek. Most likely it will be an appoinment too, but not what your discribing at Galpin.
I would take an angry trip down to Galpin if they were the ones that screwed up the lights in the first place. The other dealers will charge you and that's a 5 minute fix.

I purchased my R at Calabasas and they have a really nice service department. I've only visited the showroom of Rusnak in Pasadena but I know the EVOLVE guys are good friends of them so they might even be more mod friendly than other dealerships.

Re: (Tekk)

Volvo of Los Angeles in downtown LA is new (7 months) and were amazingly nice, fast, and knowledgable when I took my S70 in. I don't know about their familiarity with Rs though.

what do you so cal guys think of Power Volvo? my car is going to need to go into the shop, and I want a mod friendly shop that is willing to work on modded cars, and even troubleshoot MODS....my last dealer would work on my car when it was OEM stuff...but when I asked them to install my EVOLVE brakes they refused....they only installed OEM parts....
is power or calbassas better for modded cars?

Re: (23109VC)

There are 3 Power Volvo's in the LA area - Torrance, Cerritos, & Irvine.
Anthony C. at Irvine's service department owns an R and is knowledgable, but so far he's warned me of mods affecting warranty items (ECU upgrade specifically).

Consensus seems to be Santa Monica and possibly Pasadena (only because Don @ EVOLVE said he has a great relationship with Pasadena Rusnak)

I'm going to make an attempt to contact him, maybe he can make the door lock modifications on my "R". all my mods are done by Zen Volvo except the IPD reflash.

Santa Monica was the only dealer that I called (Rusnak, Westside and Santa Monica) that said they would install my TME springs... the other 2 would not touch it... Like cloaked, I use Zen as well for everything mod related that I can't or won't do myself. They are THE BEST bar none. I'm trying to convince then to put together a FMIC kit.

It's really up to the dealer and how much of a fight you want to do. But, as I see in person and on this forum, the dealer will come up with just about anything to get a chance to charge you.
Besides...if I was the dealer...why would I hand out free tech time for someone else's mistake. I would assume it would fall under a warrenty Item if the part failed....not if some tampered with the software.

Plus I think they have very high customer service ratings. Bought my first Volvo there back in 1999. An S70 NA.

Definitely THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. The guy was a total jerk to me and didn't even take the time to listen to what I had to say when I told him I wanted to buy an R. He totally thought I was just some stupid kid who didn't know anything.
That experience alone will cause me not to trust their repair department.
