Hey all, forgot to introduce myself earlier, my names Tim, I'm 18. I live in Vermont, but am a freshman @ Colby-Sawyer college in NH. Anyhoo, I have just done my first real mod to my white '97 850 N/A. I installed a JVC KD-LX300 ElKameleon cd Receiver to my dash, and I reckon I will be adding some extra gauges I bought to fill the space under the unit. I am just curious as to wether anyone makes white face gauges for the dash of the 850? Ive looked around for them, but seem to only come across ones for the 240. Are there any groups in Sweden who make them? If not, is it possible to craft them yourself?
Thanks,
-Tim

Yeah..I've looked around for few years, and haven't seen any company offers that yet. The latest development was this alumn. ring around the gauges for the 60 series.

I've seen some guy homemade one for his 240. I think he just simply printed out the white gauge 'plate' off his computer. I'm sure Michael would be able to find a link of that..maybe you can duplicate the same thing if you are creative enough and have the spare time to do that.

Or try that link Jesse found, they might be just doing the same thing, but hopefully with at a more professional level of course.

The 240 series is front lit, so you can just slap on some faces printed on paper and they'll be lit up fine at night. Newer cars (850 included, I assume) are back lit, so the faces need to be made from something that will let the light come through (probably lexan, which is what the IPD 240 series gauge faces are made out of). I'd go with one of the places that advertises the ability to make gauge faces for any car.

The high quality paper gauge faces made by Dave Barton for the 240 can be found on his website: http://www.linkline.com/personal/dbarton/

Hey all,
First off, thanks so much for all your help. Jesse, I will call MMR tommorow and hopefully place an order
Hmm, I reckon I will be adding a 200-w Pioneer amp next, then two 12's in the trunk, when I get the money. Eventually, my freind Shane and I will get better wires, and some better speakers for the system, as it sounds a bit ****e at the moment. Short term mods I plan to do soon include; tinted windows, 17' Fox Sport rims (if you go to Tirerack, you will see that they look so ill on the 850), the IPD mesh grille, possibly a cold-air intake, and a K&N air filter in the meanwhile.
I was also thinking of trying to find an 850 spoiler, and the R air dam, sideskirts, and bumper. Would it be a good bet to look for used ones at auto-salvage places? It would definatly be cheaper, but would the peices be road worthy?
If anyone else has good ideas for a white 97 850, please let me know, as I enjoy nothing more than talking about 850s, and my ***** buddies are getting a bit sick of it

The R doesn't have sideskirts or a different rear bumper (unless your 850 is one of the earliest ones with the older bumper design). All you'd need is the front chin spoiler and the rear decklid, though I have to say, on the sedan I prefer the subtler look of the T-5 spoiler.

So you put a standard sized head unit in the stereo area huh? A three gauge pod would look pretty cool in there, and it just might fit. I wonder if anyone like VDO makes them. Even if they don't you might be able to cut a piece of plastic to fit and then just use a hole saw, making the gauges overlap. VDO makes a wide range of gauges.

It's a little slow in the office today, so I decided to immerse myself in Volvos for a couple of hours. Besides, with you guys posting on the OT forum so heavily about being post hos, I thought I'd try to catch up. AND mine are ON topic (barely
)
