While walking down the street tonight in a small downtown area, I noticed a guy turn off his headlights. He was driving a base Honda Civic sedan, two body styles old, and left his parking lights on. I realized in a moment why he did it. He'd wired LED blue lights to his windshield washer nozzles and wanted to show them off as he cruised past the movie theatre where some of other highschool kids were hanging out.The funny thing is, he almost got hit by an Eclipse who didn't see him without his headlights. It was quite humorous.It begs the question though. What's up with the whole light thing lately? I can understand lights that have a purpose, but everything else (especially illuminated windshield washer nozzles) is a bit laughable.Oh to be 16 again and willing to do anything you can think of to impress girls.

Man...what kind of fashion is that anyway? What's the big deal about this LED light coming out all over the place? I just don't understand the current trend of their so-called 'MODS.' I guess it's a highschool thingy....or just our taste is off. Another reason why they do these silly things....just don't have anything else to do with their pocket change they made from flipping burgers during weekends. They can't really go out and buy a better car or do something else to the car besides these 'trendy' upgrades.First there was the smoke head lights and tail lights...then you got the complete clear tail lights..to their final evolution of r1cified teenage rides with the 'Altezza' style tail light. Or they call it the Euro style, which you don't find any European car with those things.And for those girls whoever thinks these accessories are cool....what DA HECK ARE THEY THINKING?! I guess it must be one of those peer pressure thingy. If you don't drive a Japanese car, you are not cool.

Those lights are dumb. Clear, "Euro", "Altezza" (I still am not sure of the difference) all look horrible. Now they're coming stock on Nissans and Lexuses. Whats the deal with that? Can someone explain it please? Kids in Civics generally add a fart pipe, maybe an intake, and clear taillights. Then slap on a few "Type R" stickers and a wing stolen from like a 747, and drive around thinking they can impress every girl and beat Ferraris. I think I impress more girls with my 940 wagon than they do with their ricemobiles <IMG SRC="http://www.swedespeed.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif">

The brake light ends up pink which you can't see when it is sunny. You will get rear-ended in no time.Altezza lights are lights that are from the Toyota Altezza also known in the US as the Lexus is300. Some people call them "euro" because basicly the high end Lexus is a cheap copy of last years Mercedes Benz. But anyone that calls them euros is ignorant. Now they make Altezzas for every cheap car ever made. I'll do a burnout in my 850 anyday, it'll get attention. So long as I do it on some old tires, not my new Potenza's. I already made that mistake once!As for pimpin it... I think my mom's porsche will get more attention than any kid wants! Of course, I would have to be allowed to take it out first... You can fit a couple cute, small girls in the back of the stang.What about a manual tranny, I barely ever use my brakes when I'm driving a stick, and people notice I've stopped... haha, just giving you a hard time. I know what you mean, I don't like those new clear lights either.

Ah, FWIW...real men don't need a cool ride to impress women. They just need a nice car to help carry their ego! (Like me) I know my woman likes my car, but she likes me even more than the car. If there was ever a body style that she loves, it's mine. Same goes for performance...the hell with the car, it's all about the man! (Her thoughts on the subject!) From the way the kids act today it seems as if the girls are dating the car and not the guy. Guess we are living in a material world though. I'm sorta guilty of the same thing though. Not like I took my woman out on the first date in my 240. Hell yeah, I took the 850 after cleaning it up and getting the car all pretty-like. Difference is...no stupid LEDs in my washer-nozzles or stolen 747 wings.Cheers! Prospero

It's always fun to blow away some dork in a "pimped out" anything when he's got his girl riding shotgun and he's trying to impress her. Funny thing you mention the S2000, because I just drove one on tuesday. One of the Toyota dealers near my University had a used one for sale, so I decided to take it for a test drive. It was a black 00' model that was selling for around $30k.The first time I drove one about a year ago, I was more than impressed. It basically feels like a motorcycle on 4 wheels. The 6-speed transmission is probably the best anywhere in a production car. It is a supurb handling car, but when I test drove this black one, I realized how harsh the suspension is and how much wind and road noise this thing makes! I can't imagine driving this thing for more than two hours on a highway, because I would probably be in pain. The car is really cramped inside as well, and by the end of the test drive, I wanted out! <IMG SRC="http://www.swedespeed.com/ubb/biggrin.gif">On that same day, I took a 02' Toyota MR2 for a spin. I was really impressed with how smooth and quite the engine was. The suspension was a lot less harsh than the S2000 and it was a lot quieter overall. The MR2 shifter has longer throws than the S2000, but is very smooth in action. The neatest part is feeling the engine rev behind you, instead of in front of you. The one thing I didn' t like about the MR2 is the steering is really twitchy and if you don't hold tight, it will land you in a ditch. In corners, the car oversteers very easily as well.
