So I get the slave cylinder, clutch plate, disc, bearing and rear main seal replaced today to the tune of $2100. Other than the clutch releasing very low in the throw, likely due to some residual air in the lines, thinks seem ok. But now I really hear the engine noises like never before and now hear the turbo sucking air and releasing it through the blow off that I could never hear before. Even at highway speeds and with the radio on! What gives?

Its probably just less between you and the engine now. As in, they removed some padding, or made a hole larger, so you have more sound entering the cabin.
When I first got my R a member told me to loosen a bolt under the steering wheel area, and this would make my turbo sound louder inside. I didn't do it, but same idea.

Re: (Chilled Man)

Maybe a dumb question but why would that grommet have been removed for the slave cylinder and clutch replacement? Is that easy to replace without removing a lot of hardware?

more then likey wasnt removed it moved due to moving the slave cylinder pipe .
I am not sure volvo also might replace the plunger also that is attached to a grommet that goes throught that hole .
I am not 100% sure what they do .
