I backed into a curb today and did some damage to the rim protection bead, so I while I was down there I went a inspected all four of my tires.

I've got a bubble forming on the front passenger side, a few on the drivers rear, and one on the passenger rear. None of them are that bad, but I can feel them (and sorta see the one in front).

I'm taking this as a sign that I need to replace the tires. AGAIN. Given the number of miles I drive I just don't want to risk it.

4 new Pilot Sport A/S are just way too much $$ to go through again.

I'm giving the Yokohama AVS db S2's a try this time.

what pressures are you running? maybe I've just been lucky, but I run around 38 PSI and have never had a problem with rossos, M3s or PS2s

Perhaps you do not keep on hitting curbs as he does?

I bought my Michelin Pilot A/S tires @ Costco. Sure, they are expensive, but they include free roadside hazzard protection within the price of the tire. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

The curb was a fluke. It's the potholes that are doing me in. I've done 25,000 miles this year, between Maryland and Upstate NY. NYC and Jersey are the killers.

The Yokos are supposed to be designed to be quieter. Hopefully they will be.

I've been running 40 PSI.

Give the Yoko's a chance.

They impressed the hell out of me with wet traction, dry trac is awesome too. Keep proper inflation and they should last a good long time.
One of my favorite tires of all time ...and I've had a few.

Well, Yokos are on order. I could have just switched to summer tires as I have a set of BFG KDW2's in storage, but I've given up on the idea of my needing dedicated summer tires, as I don't push the car enough to warrant it, so I'm gonna sell them. We'll see if I regret this when winter comes.

Has anybody run the Yokohamas in the snow before? We barely had any this winter, so I didn't get so see how well the Michelins would have done. The tire rack gave them middling snow ratings, but I don't put a great deal of stock into their rating system.

And if anybody in the Baltimore area wants some BFGs, I've got them.

I would not run the Yoko's in snow. I've read mostly good reviews about them in Summer and wet weather which I can vouch for, I personally love them for Texas. But we have snow here maybe one day 1" every other year. So I don't know how they'll be. Granted, more than once I've found the "common beliefs" of interent chatters to be bullhockey but the tread design, compound, etc... all adds up to dB being a not so good snow tire like many have said.

Try the Tirerack reviews on dB. I always look at variables like car, says a lot about what opinion should mean to you, i.e. a tool with a 98 Honda or 94 Mustang GT and also read the review closely for general A. Idiot factor and B. Just a skin flint who's never happy with anything sort of rater. Throw those away.
