Does anyone know how to replace the tiny approach lighting bulbs activated by the yellow button on the key remote?
I would like to replace the bulbs with a white xenon match bulb. I have searched the archives and there is nothing about how to get to these bulbs. I also checked the manual because I figured since it tells you how to replace every other bulb in from headlight to interior lighting that it would explain these. No luck
Does anyone knows what kind of bulb the side mirror approach lighting is (W5W or what?) and how to remove them. I appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks

Re: Side Mirror Approach Lighting (heil)

I haven't replaced it yet, but I'm guessing it will be something similar to replacing the blinking turn bulb in the side view mirror detailed in this thread http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=40452
I never use the yellow triangle on my remote because I thought it flashed the headlights. I might try it now to verify those approach lights really do work on my car.
Re: Side Mirror Approach Lighting (volvoNB)

I just pry out the housing carefully with a flatblade screwdriver. Before that I removed the side view mirrors, but that is not necessary. When you have gotten the housing out of the side view mirror that pull out the bulb from the socket.

I'm new to Volvo and the XC70. I'm getting the car inspected and they made it contingent upon getting the puddle lights to work. Thanks to Swedespeed, and after struggling with it for a while, I learned how to remove the puddle lights and check the bulbs. Bulbs were good and I started to worry about the circuit. I thought this was so ridiculus that I even called the State Police and two of their inspection station supervisors agreed that it was not necessary for it to pass inspection. THEN, on and older Swedespeed thread, I spotted someone saying, "You do know that they only turn on with the remote button, right?" (Head smack). They work, they always did!
