They are both pretty reliable. Everything behind the transmission is the same, you get a little more room to work on the 3.2 vs the 4.4 but there are trade offs... for example.
Serpentine belt - Can be tricky on the 4.4 but you don't have to separate the water pump from the power steering pump to do it.
Fuel Rail pressure Sensor - on the 3.2 it's right on top of the engine, easy to get to, on the 4.4 I believe you have to pull the intake to get to it.
Alternator - On the 4.4 its up under the passenger side, you need to pull the axle to get to it. On the 3.2 you have to pull the intake.

That being said, I have put 157k miles (bought it with 60k) on my 3.2 in 4.5 years and I am now starting to look at the 8's for a replacement. I have not had any major issues with the drivetrain (except rear diff issues starting at 194k with the haldex pump) but at that mileage anything can be expected.
