Hi there,<p> I'm not concern about "regulator" part but graphite brushes live span. Car has 220.000 miles and I'm going to keep it for a while.. On my former 740 regulator went when car had about 200k miles - because of contacts were totally worn.<br> Does it make sense to replace a voltage regulator because of mileage? On one hand it doesn't, on another - the car is off the road and I don't need to do additional work to get to the generator - serp belt is out already and I have DD.<p>Thanks<p>

Never really thought about it on a newer style alternator. I have replaced many on the 240's and 740's and tons of 850/X70 alternators but never looked at the regulator. Can you pickup just the regulator alone for these newer ones?

Are you saying that there is a possibility that I cannot even take the generator apart to replace the regulator? I actually didn't look into this procedure yet..

Exactly. I don't know if they are removable on the 850's and or the x70's. I would look into getting the art separately before taking it out of the car, its a pain.
