So I have been emailing Auto Meter and since they do not have a installation guide for the R if anyone in the Chicago area is interested they will do the install for free and give deep discount on parts. Here is the email from Auto Meter:

If you've got someone around the Chicagoland area, I'd be happy to wire one up and document the process. I could cut a pretty sincere deal (free labor, deeply discounted parts) to whomever wanted to volunteer their car and we could write up a very nice tutorial. Let me know and I can try to work something out.

Re: Shift Light install update, anyone in Chicago are interested? (CM2RAS)

Auto Meter Update:

CM2RAS: I will check with the online forum and see if there is anyone in the area interested. I hope someone will be as I would really like to put one in my car. I have put your products in my muscle cars for decades but I have never dealt with a distributor less ignition before.

Auto Meter: I've got a buddy with an '05 V70R I sent a message to as well; we'll see if I can twist his arm...aside from brake pads his is still stock.

CM2RAS: Since your buddy has a VR you can see it is a cool car, is it a Automatic or the 6 speed manual?

Auto Meter: I'm happy to put the offer out there. If I can better help you and other R owners, all the better. We try to do as many installations as possible and I've actually had a few 5 cylinder turbo guys looking for information.

His VR is a 6 speed. Silver with the blue and black interior. Nice car, quite the sleeper. It certainly moves out way quicker than anything that size (and shape) has any business moving. Great interior too. Aside from the E63 wagon, it really is the ultimate family car.

Any idea how big it would be? I might do it, if it's not a huge 2 inch light. Got pics?

These are the ones I was thinking of.

I can do it, as long as it's not permanent and I can take it off later on.

I will give you all the contact info so you can make sure it is what you want to do. Joesph is a really cool dude and I think he will take care of you.

Re: (CM2RAS)

I even have one of my old JDM Pivot shift light systems from my old Mitsu Evo.

'

Its a really small shift light. Only about 2" long.

I thought you might sell that on EBay or Craigslist.
