Anyone tried this kit for AT shift knob release button that always seems to break? I would like to understand how that button could be replaced - the knob does not seem to have a means of disassembly...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...A1318

That is a lot of chow for a plastic piece and a spring. But you can't get a used one for near that - not with the wood insert. Plus any used knob will be broken too or will be soon.

Sure you can. Some guy on here talked me down to $45 shipped on mine. There's one over on TB a guy is asking $50 for. Just gotta shop around.

Well, I went ahead and antied up for the replacement button. It claims to be stronger than the original. We shall see.
It is in the mail.

Re: (flat_six)

OK, I installed the button yesterday and it works fine. The instructions are a bit lacking, but if you can see how things fit together on your own - this is a good product.
Nice to get everything in there cleaned and lubed up. Now have a shifter button that does not have chunks missing and that operates smoothly without sticking.
The only other comment is the button is black - my old one was grey. Minor issue.
