Hey everyone, the service light in the instrument panel of my S80 lit up when I started it today, the only other error that I have shown to me is on the message screen: the "Bulb light position failure," which I know is due to a dead puddle light under my passenger rearview. Is this Service indicator because of this or is the car trying to tell me something else is wrong? I know that on my parent's cars the service light comes on at scheduled intervals for dealer checkups, etc. Is this the same thing or should I be more worried? Thanks!!

I just wish it would be more specific. I dont want to bring it in for the dealer to charge me 400 to replace a bulb & reset it.

If you just want to reset the "Service Light" You can:
Turn the ignition switch to position 1, then push and hold in the odometer trip button while turning the switch to position 2. After a few seconds the service light will flash, release the trip button then.
Ive heard this is a way of reseting the light on the S80s

I believe the message is for a low beam headlight.....not the rear view... how many miles are on your car?

Re: (evoldarnoc)

that displayed message corresponds to one of the two bulbs (5w i believe) in each of the tail light assemblies. there are two on each side and that is what burns out some volvos go through them like a horse drinks water, but you can pick these up for a couple $$ at your local pep boys / advance auto.
EDIT:
and if I remember correctly, that warning message doesn't come on until both of one side are burned out. just buy some extras and throw them in your glove box.

Re: (phuz)

dead tail light bulb.
EDIT: when I went to replace the allegedly dead bulb, I found that there wasnt even one in the socket, turns out its been rattling around in my tail light lense for the past month or so. Took about five minutes to unscrew and re-attach the light to/from the car.
Thanks to all who helped me figure this one out
