Ok..it finally happened to me. What's with the darn "service" light again? I have a 2k1 S40 and the service light on the information center turns on EVERYTIME I turn on the car but then shortly disappears. Should I hit the panic button and bring it to Volvo or can it wait?
Ray.
it is just telling you that it is time for your oil change, it is not the infamous check engine light problem. If you are doing your own oil changes or are getting an independant mechanic to do them you (or they) may have forgotten to reset the light (or even your dealer might have) when the oil chnage was done (or maybe the oil change hasn;t been done yet). In anycase you can rest it (I think) the procedure has been posted here before (can't remeber it of hand) and may even be in your owners manual (under oil changes). In anycase it is nothing major, if you haven't had the oil change done get it done, if you have had it done reset the light.
