Hi there gang,
Am I supposed to do anything after changing the battery ? it's the first time I have to do it since I got the car, did not have the Service light on before, just happened after I installed the new battery. Is there a reset procedure or something ?
Thanks

Battery change shouldn't trigger it.
It's mileage based. What year?

It's a 98 XC. Light wasn't there last time I drove it on the old battery, then car sat for about a week. Yesterday-no start, got the new battery in, and light on. I was told to drive it a bit and maybe it'll go away, haven't done that yet

Just to clarify, this is the Service, not Check Engine, right?

It's just an oil change reminder, on a 98 I'd pull the bulb out of the cluster so you don't have to keep going in to get it reset.

Service light ALWAYS goes out after 30 seconds. For a 98 you need a special tool to reset it.

Correct. The light keeps coming back on everytime on restart and goes away, doesn't really bother me, mainly since it's no real issue; my mech told me he'l reset it whenever I get a chance to stop by.
