If you had gone out to buy these things...

20k services is what? Checking fluid levels?
Oil filter ~ $8
Gasket ~ free with filter
Oil ~ $30
What the heck are expendables, WW solvent?
Cabin filter ~ $20 + PAIN to replace if you DIY
Wiper blades ~ $30
Inspection is mandatory and free
Rotating tires is complimentary
Alignment ~ $80 if you haven't had one done in the last year and/or 12k miles
Safety check is mandatory and free
Dealer wash ~ $30

You're looking at close to $200 had you attempted to do it all yourself. So $210 is a great deal! Especially if that included their labor, which is ~$110 per hour. Of course, Volvo is getting all those parts for significantly less, but still... Are you under a partial warranty?

agreed. good deal especially if you felt you needed an alignment.

side topic: do folks do regular alignments? i only get them with new tires or suspension work

I get an alignment every 6 months, prior to going to the Tail of the Dragon. It's always off just a little bit (pot holes, general tinkering with the car, etc.).

If you have a lifetime alignment, I'd go as frequently as they allow. With the 1 year 12k miles alignments, I would go right before I hit that 1 year or 12k mark.

It's $30 for synthetic oil in the States?!
$25 for a 5 quart jug of Mobile 1 full synthetic. Car normally takes 7 quarts, so I guess $35 for enough oil for a full change. ;)

Not really sure but I think "expendables" are stuff like shop rags, etc. "WW solvent" is probably windshield washer fluid.

Labor rates here appear to be $125. Dealer charged $37.50 for 0.3 hours of labor to rotate tires.

My 2013 C30 is covered by The Volvo Complimentary Factory Schedule Maintenance program. Free scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles. Warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles. Corrosion protection is 12 years/unlimited mileage.

The day after picking up the car, the dealer called to say there had been a billing error. The correct amount is $310 not $210.

I'm sorry, it's so stupid that they consider checking things an actual service. Anyone can reset the service light if you have know how to put the key in the ignition and start the car...

$310 sounds more realistic with labor. But still not too bad since you had an alignment as well.

Alignment was $149.95. Tech wrote, "Performed alignment. Made toe angle adjustments to specifications to all 4 wheels. Test drove."

Don't know if it's my imagination but the C30 rides a lot smoother.

probably not your imagination. when the suspension geometry is all pointed in the right direction and working to factory spec it should be pretty smooth and tight.

Still can't believe the improvement in ride quality from a wheel alignment. C30 had less than 10,000 miles.

You can get realigned after just 3k miles and you'll notice a difference.

It's like leaving the dentist after a teeth cleaning. You feel fine when you go in, but everything feels smoother afterwards.

On an unrelated topic, when I was at the dealership, they said they were expecting a "new small Volvo model" in the next 4-5 months. Has anyone heard anything?

I'm pretty sure only first 3 things on your list were done on my 20k service which was done about a month ago...

All of the items listed should have been done for the "Second Service: 20,000 MILES." The items are described in the Volvo Complimentary Factory Scheduled Maintenance Program manual.

Did they replace your 30780377 cabin filter?
