One can configure a screen saver mode. It seems the screen will transform to black very quickly unless the Sensus system is being used. There's no way to configure go into screen saver after so many minutes of inactivity.

I also wonder just how important having the screen saver configured is ?

Typically a screen saver is designed for avoiding screen ghosting and ultimately screen failure... so just how important is it to use the screen saver? Will prolong the life of the screen and what is the useful life of the screen if it's kept on all the time ?

Thanks for any insights.

It probably relates more to night driving, for those who don't like distracting light sources. (If the screensaver was there to avoid burn-in, I suspect it would be enabled by default.)

Assuming the screen is LCD it doesn't need a screen saver, that technology never "burns in" an image. Only thing is eventually the backlight will burn out.... after a VERY long time.
Plasma screens can "burn in" but not LCD.
