I bought my 850 at the end of march, and I've become really attached to it. It runs great, and I've had no problems, but I came across a red 850R yesterday. I was really tempted to trade, but thought I should get some other peoples opinions first. My car has 108,000 miles, and the R has almost 165,000 miles. The car has all the records, but I am still a little sceptical about the mileage.

Re: Sell 96' 850 GLT for 96' 850R? (Swede115)

Keep yours and enlarge your territory i.e. add the R to your 850 collection! The only thing better than having an 850 you love is having TWO of them. I have two, so I know.

Re: Sell 96' 850 GLT for 96' 850R? (Swede115)

Swede, buy the R. I found a `96 855R and just got it serviced at Foreign Motors in Durham, NH. It has 147,000 miles on it and it runs great. I still have my `94 855 Turbo with 237,000 miles on it. I was going to sell it but it runs so nice I'm going to keep it around. It will make a good winter car and save the miles on the R.
Expect to invest a little if you buy the car since it probably needs something at 165,000, unless everything has been done recently. It's such an uncommon car you have to get it.

If the "R" has had the TB, suspension and other services done and is in pretty good shape, you could trade up to it and avoid doing all of that maintenance that's coming up on your own car. That's one way to look at it!
