On my 04 V70r, twice in the past four days, I've calibrated my wastegate actuator to around 7 psi, and then hand tightened the locking nut. Both times, after initially driving fine, I noticed that the car wasn't building boost properly, checked the arm and discovered that while the locking nut hadn't moved, the threaded thimble had come loose and backed its way down the arm.

My deduction is that by effectively lengthening the actuator arm, the wastegate opens early, venting off pressure before the turbo makes much progress. One, is this logic sound? Two, how can I keep the threaded thimble nut from moving? Should I be using pliers to tighten the thimble?

Thoughts?
