Hey All,
We've planning a S40 GTG/BBQ that has turned into more of a C30, S40/V50, and now R GTG. So I'm just throwing this out there in hopes we can get the regulars to show up and give the guys that couldn't make the last GTG at the Red Hook Brewery a chance to meet the rest of us. Kmg_S60R (His very first GTG), skibum0627, and myself will already be there for sure. Hope to see some more R's show up!!!
Time & Date:
1:00 PM
July 12, 2009
Location:
Sandberg Northwest Volvo
17025 Highway 99
Lynnwood, WA 98037

Here is all the info from the S40 Forum.....
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=117483
Please check it out and let us know if you can make it.
*UPDATE 6/23*
Alright guys here is how it's lookin right now. Re: Seattle Area GTG......Again (RainyS60R)

To all the Mukilteo guys and close proximity... There is going to be a pre meet @ the Everett Costco over by Silver Lake for some food, drinks and supplies. The Costco opens at 10:00AM but I am unsure of what time the plan is to pre meet there before heading to Sandberg. Though the question goes out... For anybody wanting to meet up in the Mukilteo Area I was thinking the Pizza Hut across from the Harbour Point Shopping Center on the Mukilteo Speedway, for the drive to Costco... Let me know and as time gets closer and some more details can go out on the specifics.
So far the guys I have in mind are RainyS60R, skibum### and from the S40 side skwirl... Feel free to respond and let me know if you would be up for it.

Cool with me. I go to that Costco all the time
FYI, I've recently moved to Kirkland, but my house is still up in Mukilteo which I would visit often.

Skibum####... I'll hit you up once I am in the area... Should be about the 18th so I figure I will try and get in touch with some people around 22-23 June or so. Gives me a chance to see family and stuff for a bit .
Matt, if you could update that I will be parking at the Pizza Hut in Mukilteo across from the Harbour Point Plaza on the Mukilteo Speedway from 930 to 945 on the day of the GTG for anyone wanting to meet up there prior to rolling out to Costco that would be great!
If anyone actually RSVPs, just shoot me an IM to let me know you are coming.

Re: Seattle Area GTG......Again (mad matt)

I would have loved to have come to this, however the idea of going to a dealership for a get together kind of turns me off. Sure we all started there at one point, and I am not trying to blast anyones ideas about a meeting place, I just think that we could be a bit more creative for a meeting place. Redhook Brewery was a good place, and even somewhere like Golden Gardens park or something like that would be a bit more inviting than going to a dealership. Just Sayin'

Re: Seattle Area GTG......Again (veteranblanco)

We want do have the GTG further north then Seattle cause there are going to be a about 5 cars coming down from Canada and Bellingham. We were planning on doing the GTG somewhere in the Everett area when T Schroeder (who works at the dealership) invited us to have the GTG at his dealerships location. He is also a Volvo enthusiast so we figured it would be as good a place as any. Besides he is providing us with a BBQ so we can have some eats as well.
Just curious, why does it turn you off? I've not been to Sandberg before but from what I've been told, they are one of the few more mod friendly dealers there is.

Re: Seattle Area GTG......Again (mad matt)

I purchased my S60R from Sandberg and honestly because I am a young buck, they took me for a stroke and they stuck me with the youngest salesman they had, who I guess tried to relate to me by being unprofessional with his language and demeanor. So the buying experience was not the greatest. Then went back to get a Wheel Bearing looked at, and was basically shrugged off until my warranty expired, then they could not have been more willing to help. I just feel like because of my age, I was ignored. Needless to say I have never been back to that dealership nor would I recommend anyone to that dealership. I choose to purchase the car there because they had the one that I wanted not because of the service. So please forgive me for my reluctance.

I still worry about them shrugging off mechanical problems before the warranty expires. This is why I plan to go to an independent mechanic every 30,000 miles for a thorough inspection. Any problems found will documented in photos and writing to be shown to the dealer, signed by the independent mechanic.

I totally can understand where your coming from. I'm 30, look about 22 so I get treated similarly from time to time. It all depends on how I'm dressed when I enter a store. I was brushed off at first when I went to the dealer (Volvo of Tacoma) when I wanted to look at the R. They had a look on there faces like "yeah, right. lets get this over with so I can actually sell the car to someone who can buy it" I asked for a differant sales man, and he was very good to me even though I was wearing sweats and a tee shirt. Sorry Kinda off topic.
I hope you change your mind and decide to come out none the less. It is simply a location with a grill. I have no intention of letting them touch my R, that privilege is reserved for Topping Volvo here in Oly. But from what you guys are saying it's a good thing we are only using the place to meet up and not getting any work done to our caRs.
